About Fenton Seed Farm

The Fenton family’s roots are deeply embedded in agriculture as Fred McConnell established farmingthe homestead in 1904.  Today his great nephew Gerald (Duff) now resides and operates Fenton Seeds together with his son, Robin on the original homestead site.  A Century Family Farm Certificate was awarded to Robin and Duff Fenton in 2004 honoring 100 years of family farming.

Fenton Seeds is a third-generation family owned and operated pedigreed seed business established by Les Fenton near Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1946.

The seed business was carried on by Les’s son, Duff, who produced his first pedigreeseed plantd canola crop in 1958.  Nearly half a century later, the 3300 acre farm focuses on pedigreed seed production growing up to 20 different varieties of grain, oilseed, and pulse crops annually.

The seed processing plant is a registered seed establishment monitored by Canadian Seed Institute which regulates quality standards for seed processing and storage facilities. A government inspected scale is located on-site.

The processing plant is located approximately 8 miles northwest of Tisdale, field Saskatchewan.

Owners, Duff and Robin Fenton, as members of the Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA), SECAN, Farm Pure Seeds, the Saskatchewan Canola Growers’ Association, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers’ Association and others, have access to the newest seed genetics on the market.

We take pride in producing varieties of crops fitted for our growing area.  Our “hands on”  approach  from the first breeder seed plots on down through the pedigreed process gives us a good understanding of the variety by the time it is released to our customer at the certified level four years later.farm

We have achieved wide-spread recognition for our commitment to quality seed, winning at numerous industry seed shows across Canada including Western Canadian Agribition, Seager Wheeler Seed Show, Yorkton Harvest Roundup, and The Toronto Royal, to name a few.
